Location: Torquay, Devon, UK

About: Kent's Cavern is recognised as the most important Palaeolithic (stone Age) cave system in Britain. The caves were extensively excavated during the last two centuries when stalagmite floors were methodically and carefully removed to reveal a wealth of artefacts dating from over 700,000 years ago to the end of the last ice age 12,500 years ago. This evidence makes these caves one of the oldest homes in Britain. They are classified by Engish Heritage as the oldest Scheduled Ancient Monument in Britain.
